On April 16, the Calgary Wild FC and Vancouver Rise FC kicked off at Vancouver’s BC Place. It was the historic first match of the Northern Super League.

A league of their own

The NSL is Canada’s first professional women’s soccer league. It’s the brainchild of Diana Matheson. In 2022, the former national team midfielder and Olympic medallist joined forces with Thomas Gilbert, a university colleague.
