Jasper National Park, Canada’s largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, is reeling from its worst wildfire in more than 100 years. The ongoing inferno has scorched more than 32,500 hectares of this 1.1 million-hectare nature preserve, known for its hiking, skiing, paddling, and biking. One-third of the iconic town of Jasper, the municipality in the heart of the park, has been reduced to rubble.
