News4Youth is an online social studies resource and learning platform featuring weekly articles about important news stories. This Canadian online resource empowers students to understand and explore current events around the world.
News4Youth supports differentiated learning. Beginning in August 2023, all News4Youth articles are available in 3 reading levels: Level 1 (FK 4-5/Lexile 610-800); Level 2 (FK7-8/Lexile 810-1000); Level 3 (FK 9-11/Lexile 1010-1200). Additional supports such as a dictionary look-up and audio accompaniment, and challenges such as links for further reading (including links to authentic news sources), make the articles appropriate for a wide range of reading abilities.
Please note that News4Youth and LesPlanEducational Services Ltd. do not gather or store any student information or data. To create a classroom, teachers are only required to enter a student’s first name and last initial. Student work, such as article responses and quiz scores, are managed by the teachers in their classroom and we do not store these results. Teachers may also permanently delete a classroom and the results associated with it at any time.
